Curriculum - Oncology
Oncology II
The resident is introduced to the principles of diagnosis and therapy of the patient with malignant disease during this initial twelve week rotation. Participation in the Oncology clinics and daily teaching rounds provides familiarity with gynecologic pathology. Ward care and operating room responsibilities are initiated.
Oncology III
During this twelve week rotation the resident participates in more complicated gynecologic surgery procedures and assumes greater responsibility for the management of seriously ill patients.
Oncology IV
This rotation is divided into two 6 –week blocks, alternating with the Night Float. During this twelve week rotation, the chief resident assists with all oncology surgery and acts as primary surgeon, when appropriate, under the supervision of the faculty. The chief resident also is responsible for coordinating the care of all hospitalized patients and patients referred to the Oncology clinic.
