Gynecologic Oncology

Gynecologic Oncology is one of four divisions in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, Florida. Patients are seen on Monday and Wednesday at the Shands Medical Plaza Clinic by two Board Certified Gynecologic Oncologists. Our physicians specialize in the treatment of patients with gynecologic cancers including cancers of the uterus, cervix, vagina, ovary, Fallopian tube, vulva and gestational trophoblastic disease. They utilize surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

The division's predominant area of research has been clinical with emphasis on the management of ovarian malignancies with radioactive phosphorus, also known as P-32, and various chemotherapeutic trials in ovarian and cervical cancer.

Linda S. Morgan, MD

Linda S. Morgan attended college at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia and received her B.S. degree in 1971. She attended medical school at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville in 1979. She then went on to complete a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston from 1979-1981.

Dr. Morgan, is the Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Division in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Florida College of Medicine. She was recently named the J. Wayne Reitz Professor of Gynecologic Surgery in the department in January of 2000. She is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, member of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists and Medical Director of Tumor Registry Shands Hospital. Her interests include treatment of gynecologic malignancies and reconstructive surgery in gynecology.
